The Second Noble Truth

The Second Noble Truth

(Taught by Buddha)

II. Unhappiness is caused by selfish craving.

In the Pure and Natural State of Our Being, we are One with Love and Our One Creator. The selfish craving of the ego separates us from Love and Our Creator. The ego searches for energy from a different source though the appetites of the five senses. The energy of the world, of itself, is unfulfilling, but still the ego wants more and more trying to find fulfillment. Through the sense gratification of the selfish desires of the ego, humanity enters the Mode of Passion.  The more the Mode of Passion takes over the more impure our thoughts become and the unhappier and emptier we become. More is never enough. (Rajas)

In the Essence of Our Being we are Love, Created by Our One Creator. Love is the Natural state of our whole being. When we Love Our One Creator with our whole being, we return to our Own Divine Nature and Oneness with Our One Creator and experience Healing, Peace, Abundance, Joy, Love and Happiness.

II. Okuden- 2nd Degree Reiki Ryoho Practitioner

II. The Second Degree Attunement of Okuden opens the flow of Reiki Energy in and through the Subtle Body for Distant Healing. The Subtle Body also called The Thinking  Body and is composed of the Seven Auras around the body and Five Pranas within the Body. (Collective Consciousness) (Akasha) (Distant Healing). Through the practice of 2nd Degree Reiki, Guidance through Grace is received.

Divine Grace refers to the sovereign favor of God for humankind — especially in regard to salvation — irrespective of actions ("deeds"), earned worth, or proven goodness.

Grace is enabling power sufficient for progression. Grace divine is an indispensable gift from God for development, improvement, and character expansion. Without God's grace, there are certain limitations, weaknesses, flaws, impurities, and faults humankind cannot overcome. Therefore, it is necessary to increase in God's grace for added perfection, completeness, and flawlessness.

Put another way, humankind is unable to evolve or be saved without God's grace; it is a prerequisite to salvation. Additionally, humans cannot exchange good deeds for it. It is a free gift from God. Thus, humankind is saved all by grace and not by some combination, mixture, or blending of good works and divine grace. Were it achieved by works, humans could take pride in their efforts towards holiness.

More broadly, divine grace refers to God's gifts to humankind, including life, creation, and salvation. (www.wikipedia.org)

The Symbols of Reiki Ryoho

Dr. Usui was a teacher as well as a student of Reiki. Originally, the Reiki Symbols were not used in passing attunements by Dr. Usui. The Symbols were for learning the principles of Reiki and The Path of Reiki. The Symbols were incorporated into the attunement process by Hawayo K. Takata as she brought Reiki to the west. She simplified the meanings of the symbols for use in the west to make it easier for Reiki to spread.

Mrs. Takata actually did an extraordinary thing when she combined the symbols with the attunement. By applying the Attunement Energy of Reiki with the symbols that teach the path of Reiki, it is possible to bring healing to the understanding of Reiki in the Reiki Community itself. As Reiki is practiced worldwide the understanding of Reiki grows naturally as the Collective Conscious of The Reiki Community is opened to and shares the deeper meanings of Reiki Ryoho.

The Symbols of Reiki Ryoho connect us with energy and information that is so ancient it predates any written language. The Symbols are like ancient cave drawings from the Heart Cave of Humanity. Within this Heart Cave is the secret chamber of our Collective Conscious and Collective Unconscious.

The Symbols are like star maps of the inner Cosmos of Collective Consciousness sometimes called Akasha. The symbols are like star maps that preserve the knowledge of the primordial energy systems of Creation and their evolution into the anatomical structures of the material universe as well as the path of their return.

The symbols in many different forms have appeared and disappeared throughout history. The symbols always seem to reappear just when humanity is ready to understand more about them and their origin. The clarity of the symbols depends upon the depth of the inner vision of humanity. The Reiki symbols are keys that connect us with Reiki energy at the Collective Conscious and Collective Unconscious levels.

Akasha

Akasha is a Sanskrit word, and means primary substance, that out of which all things are formed. According to the Aquarian philosophy, it is the first stage of the crystallization of spirit. This philosophy recognizes the fact that all primordial substance is spirit; that matter is spirit moving at a lower rate of vibration, becoming, as one master expressed it, a coagulum.

This Akashic, or primary substance (Prana, Ki), is of exquisite fineness and is so sensitive that the slightest vibrations of an ether any place in the universe register and indelible impression upon it. This primal substance is not relegated to any particular part of the universe, but is everywhere present. It is in very fact the “Universal Mind” (Collective Conscious, Collective Unconscious) of which our metaphysicians speak.

When the mind of man is in exact accord with the Universal Mind man enters into a conscious recognition of these Akashic impression and may collect them and translate them into any language of earth with which he is familiar. (Aquarian Gospel of Jesus the Christ- p.10- transcribed by Levi Dowling)

The Living Symbols

All written languages are based on the two principles of Black Fire and White Fire. Black Fire is the actual letter or symbol form and White Fire is the space around the letter/symbol that illuminates it. If a page was all Black Fire the whole page would be black. If a page was White Fire the whole page would be white. Together

In Divine Nature Black Fire and White Fire can be seen at dawn and sunset. At dawn and at sunset all shapes are black but illuminated by the light behind them. As the sun rises we enter the White Fire of the day and as the sun sets we enter the Black Fire of the night. This concept of black/white, night/day and form/illumination is the nature of Yin/Yang which in Hebrew is called Torah.

The letters of alphabets of descriptive languages are not individually uplifting but derive their Torah nature when combined into words, phrases, sentences and ideas that connect with the Divine. The Black Fire becomes the literal meaning of the text. The White Fire represents the ideas that go beyond the literal meaning. The White Fire becomes the messages we read between the lines.

There is much more White Fire on a page. This seems to suggest there is much more importance in between the lines. In this way Our One Creator can teach us on many levels with the same text. One day, through the text we are taught one lesson. On another day through the same text we are taught a much deeper message. Thus, the Torah is called the Living Word because of God’s Living Presence in and through it.

Beyond descriptive alphabets there is a symbol/letter alphabet in which each letter is a living symbol/letter that has a connection with the Divine. The Symbol/Letters have many layers of healing and understanding. The Hebrew alphabet is one such alphabet that is composed of 22 Living Symbol/Letters. Each letter has a connection with the Divine for healing and teaching. The letters are also combined to make words, phrases, sentences and ideas that are functional on two distinct levels. They have living descriptive meaning as phrases, sentences and ideas as well as the meaning of the living letters individually.

The Healing and Attunement Language of Reiki Ryoho is such a Living Symbol/Letter Language that has both single letter connection with the Divine as well as a combined Symbol/Letter communication with Our One Creator. Each Symbol/Letter is composed of the Black and White Fire of the Torah.

There are Four Symbols that are commonly used in Reiki Ryoho. Each symbol is like a letter in an ancient, almost forgotten, healing and attunement language. As a person works with and studies the symbols, knowledge of the Healing and Attunement language begins to emerge into one’s consciousness. This language is a tool to help us connect our inner selves with Our One Creator who is the Highest Source of Love and Understanding.

The Four Symbols of Reiki Ryoho have four basic layers of information that help us on the Path of Reiki.

The Cho-Ku-Rei

I.  Form

The Form of the “Cho-Ku-Rei” reveals to us the nature of the Breath of Life (Ki, Chi, Prana) of the Creator and its relationship to our Individual Being and Subtle Anatomy.

The Form of the "Cho-Ku-Rei” is made up of a Hollow Tube and two spirals. One Spiral flows in a counterclockwise inward spiral (Black/Yin) and the other is an outward clockwise spiral (White/Yang).

The In Breath

I.                    In Breath- Our Creator Breathes the Breath of Life into each of us. Each individual being is represented by the “A” in the circle at the top. This circle represents the Atmic Body or Divine Individuality.

II.                 The Breath of Life from Our Creator flows into our individuality and downward through The Hollow Tube (Shushumna) into and through the Seven Chakras.

III.               The Breath spirals inward (Black/Yin) touching and filling each part of our Subtle Anatomy.

2.      The Body

3.      The Mind

4.      The Soul

5.      The Spirit

6.      The Will

7.      The Higher Self

8.   The Sacred Heart

The Out Breath

The Out breath (White/Yang) begins at the Sacred Heart and spirals clockwise and outward touching and returning the breath from each part of our subtle anatomy:

7. The Sacred Heart

6. The Higher Self

5. The Will

4. The Spirit

3. The Soul

2. The Mind

1. The Body

When it reaches # III it then travels upward in and through the chakras up to the individual self (A) from there it travels back to Our One Creator (# I).

Our One Creator breathed into us the breath of Life and we became living beings, living souls. As we breathe out the Breath returns to Our Creator where it is charged with more Love and Light and breathed back into us. Back and Forth the Breath of Life from Our One Creator breathes us and we live.

II. Letter/Symbol

Drawing the Cho-Ku-Rei

These are block letter drawings to illustrate how to draw the Cho-Ku-Rei.

Go inward---Trace the black lines in the direction of arrows 1, 2, and 3. When you get to the center of the black counterclockwise spiral (heart chakra) reverse direction…………….Go outward- Trace the white spaces in the clockwise direction of  arrow # 4 until you reach the central vertical line at #5. Trace the black central line up in the direction of arrow # 5 and continue tracing the black line in the         direction of arrow # 6.

III. Name

1. The most common name of this symbol is the "Power Symbol". The Japanese name for this symbol  is "Cho-Ku-Rei" which literally means "Royal Command". A Command is a word that Creates an effect. It is the Royal Command of Our One Creator. The "Royal Command" is the “Living Word” that Creates all that is Life.

2. This symbol is ancient and predates written languages. One old name for this symbol is “Logos of the Circle Seven”. The "Logos" is “The Living Word”. The Circle of the Seven shows the relationship of the Seven Chakras as well as the Seven Parts of our subtle anatomy. The Living Logos (Word) is made flesh and dwells within us. Everyone breathes the Breath of God every day and night whether they know it or not.

3. The Logos or Word is also called “OM”, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the Creation of God. OM is composed of three letters “A-U-M”. AUM is sometimes pronounced “AMEN”, AMIN or HUM. OM is symbolized by the “O” at the top of the symbol.

OM

In Hinduism and Buddhism, the Sanskrit term bija, literally seed, is used as a metaphor for the origin or cause of things. In Esoteric Buddhism and Hinduism, the term biji is used for mystical "seed syllables" contained with mantras. These seeds do not have precise meanings, but are thought to carry connections to spiritual principles. The best-known bija symmable is OM, which first is seen in the Hindu Scriptures known as the Upanishads. (Wikipedia.org)

OM, The eternal Word is all: what was, what is, and what shall be, and what beyond is in eternity. All is OM. Brahman is all and Atman is Brahman. Atman, the Self, which is one with OM, has three aspects, and beyond these three, different from them and indefinable- The Fourth. This Self, beyond all words, is the syllable OM. This syllable, though indivisible, consists of three letters--- A-U-M.

Vaiswanara, the Self as the universal person in his physical being corresponds to the first letter--A.

This first condition is the waking life of outward-moving consciousness, enjoying the seven outer gross elements. (Gross Body- Acting Body- Physical Body and its seven systems and five senses)

Taijasa, the Self as the universal person in his mental being, corresponds to the second letter--U. Taijasa and the letter U both stand in dream, between waking and sleeping. This second condition is the dreaming life of inner-moving consciousness, enjoying the seven subtle inner elements in its own light and solitude. (Subtle Body- Thinking Body- Seven Auras around the body/ Five Pranas within the Body)

Prajna, the Self as the universal person in dreamless sleep, corresponds to the third letter--M. He is the origin and the end of all. This third condition is the sleeping life of silent consciousness when a person has no desires and beholds no dreams. Whoever knows Prajna knows all things. (Causal Body- Feeling Body-Seven Chakras on the spine and five chakras on the Hara line of the front body)

The Fourth, the Self, the Atman  is Om, the indivisible syllable. This syllable is unutterable, and beyond mind. In it the manifold universe disappears. This fourth condition is Atman in His own pure state: the awakened life of supreme consciousness. It is neither outer nor inner consciousness, neither semi-consciousness nor sleeping consciousness, neither mere consciousness nor unconsciousness. He is Atman, the Spirit Himself, that cannot be seen or touched, that is above all distinctions, beyond thought and ineffable. In the union with Him is the supreme proof of His reality. He is Peace and Love. He is the supreme good--One without a second. Whosoever knows OM, the Atman, becomes the Self. (“Mandukya Upanishad”) (Atmic Body/ Divine Body/Karmic Body of the Pattern of the Seven and the Five of Creation)

OM Mani Padme Hum

From (Wikipedia.org)

The second most well known mantra is "OM Mani Padme Hum". The first known description of the mantra OM Mani Padme Hum appears in the Karandavyuha Sutra, which is part of certain Mahayana cannons such as the Tibetan. In this sutra, Shakyamuni buddha states, "This is the most beneficial mantra. Even I made this aspiration to all the million Buddhas and subsequently received this teaching from Buddha Amitabha."

Mantras originated in India with Vedic Hinduism and were later adopted by Buddhists, Sikhs and Jains, now popular in various modern forms of spiritual practice which are loosely based on practices of these Eastern religions.

The Sanskrit word mantra- consists of the root man-"to think" (also in manas "mind") and the suffix- tra meaning, tool, hence a literal translation would be "instrument of thought". Mantras are interpreted to be effective as sound (vibration), to the effect that great emphasis is put on correct pronunciation (resulting in an early development of a science of phonetics in India). They are intended to deliver the mind from illusion and material inclinations. Chanting is the process of repeating a mantra. (Wikipedia.org)

Mantras may be interpreted by practitioners in many ways, or even as mere sequences of sound whose effects lie beyond strict meaning.

A practitioner might expand upon the mantra's meaning, for instance taking its six syllables of OM Mani Padme Hum to represent the purification of the six realms of existence:

Syllable Purifies
Om Bliss / pride
Ma Jealousy / lust for entertainment
Ni Passion / desire
Pad Stupidity / prejudice
Me Poverty / possessiveness
Hum Aggression / hatred

Karandavyuha Sutra definition

The first known description of the mantra OM Mani Padme Hum appears in the Karandavyuha Sutra, which is part of certain Mahayana canons such as the Tibetan. In this sutra, Shakyamuni Buddha states, "This is the most beneficial mantra. Even I made this aspiration to all the million Buddhas and subsequently received this teaching from Buddha Amitabha." (Wikipedia.org)

The 14th Dalai Lama's definition

"It is very good to recite the mantra Om Mani Padme Hum, but while you are doing it, you should be thinking on its meaning, for the meaning of the six syllables is great and vast... The first, Om [...] symbolize the practitioner's impure body, speech, and mind; they also symbolize the pure exalted body, speech, and mind of a Buddha[...]"

"The path is indicated by the next four syllables. Mani, meaning jewel, symbolizes the factors of method-the altruistic intention to become enlightened, compassion, and love.[...]"

"The two syllables, padme, meaning lotus, symbolize wisdom[...]"

"Purity must be achieved by an indivisible unity of method and wisdom, symbolized by the final syllable hum, which indicates indivisibility[...]"

"Thus the six syllables, om mani padme hum, mean that in dependence on the practice of a path which is an indivisible union of method and wisdom, you can transform your impure body, speech, and mind into the pure exalted body, speech, and mind of a Buddha[...]"

-- H.H. The 14th Dalai Lama, Tenzin Gyatzo, Om Mani Padme hum

Gen Rinpoche's definition

The mantra Om Mani Pädme Hum is easy to say yet quite powerful, because it contains the essence of the entire teaching. When you say the first syllable Om it is blessed to help you achieve perfection in the practice of generosity, Ma helps perfect the practice of pure ethics, and Ni helps achieve perfection in the practice of tolerance and patience. Päd, the fourth syllable, helps to achieve perfection of perseverance, Me helps achieve perfection in the practice of concentration, and the final sixth syllable Hum helps achieve perfection in the practice of wisdom.

So in this way recitation of the mantra helps achieve perfection in the six practices from generosity to wisdom. The path of these six perfections is the path walked by all the Buddhas of the three times. What could then be more meaningful than to say the mantra and accomplish the six perfections? -- Gen Rinpoche, Heart Treasure of the Enlightened Ones (ISBN 0-87773-493-3)

OM – AUM

AUM of the Vedas became the sacred word Hum of the Tibetans, Amin of the Moslems, and Amen of the Egyptians, Greeks, Romans, Jews, and Christians. Its meaning in Hebrew is sure, faithful. (Autobiography of a Yogi by Paramahansa Yogananda page 22n, 14n and 277n)

“These things says the Amen, the Faithful and True Witness, the Beginning of the Creation of God.” (Revelation 3:14)

OM is the Atmic Body

Hum is the Tibet translation of AUM

A-   is the Acting Body (Physical Body) in its pure essence.

U- is the Thinking Body (Aura and Prana Body) in its pure essence.

M- is the Feeling Body (Chakra Body) in its pure essence.

When we say OM- Hum we are connecting with Our One Creator and asking for the Divine Essence of the Acting, Thinking, Feeling and Atmic Bodies to manifest in and through us. We also ask for the Essence of Our One Creator at these levels to manifest in and through us for Healing and Spiritual growth. These are the four bodies that make it possible for us to experience incarnation in the material world.

When you Place OM at the beginning of a mantra and Hum at the end of the same mantra you are connecting with Our Creator and praying for the purification of the four bodies through the bija seeds you place between them.

Kotodama

Kotodama (言霊 or ことだま pronounced [kotodama]) means the soul or power of language. Kotodama has a direct translation of "Spirit Word."

Kotodama are “bija”- mantras of the names of the Four Reiki Ryoho Symbols.

Kotodama of Reiki Ryoho are the seed syllables from which the names of the Four Reiki Ryoho Symbols are derived. Kotodama can be used along with the symbols or by themselves to pray for the energy the symbols represent.

In a treatment the Symbol is drawn and the appropriate Kotodama is said silently three times to initiate the energy. The Kotodama can be used continuously during a treatment. Use your intuition when using the Kotodama in treatments or everyday life. You may sometimes be led to use the Symbol or Kotodama by themselves or sometimes together.

Kotodama can be spoken, chanted or sung silently or out loud. Feel the energy flow through your entire being to bring healing to all the earth. As you chant draw or visualize the symbol and meditate on its meaning. These are only a few suggestions of the uses. They are good for releasing illusion from the heart and mind and our entire being.

(Paragraph and Pronunciations from http://www.theoldpath.com/reikischool/kotopronounce.html)

If you apply the Kotodama to OM-Hum you take them even deeper. These advanced Kotodama clear negative thoughts and illusions etc. They help keep us clear and connected with Our Creator in the Reiki Presence throughout our daily practice. The Kotodama can also be used to access information from the Akashic Records and Our One Creator.

For instance; suppose you have doubts about the use of the Kotodama, perhaps you think they may not be legitimate Reiki Tools. Simply use the Kotodama either silently or out loud and focus your attention on Our Creator with your question. You will receive your answer.

IV. Divine Knowledge

Logos of the Circle Seven
(Cho-Ku-Rei)

Everything that has anything to do with us as human beings has a connection to some part of our anatomy. The understanding of the total anatomy of a human being is the key to understanding all knowledge, all truth and all healing. How can a person either understand or achieve total healing without knowing what a total, complete, whole human being really is?

Have you ever thought about how you came to experience everything there is? Is the Self all you are, or is there something more? The path of remembrance is a journey of curiosity about what life actually is. As you become curious about life, the synchronicity of coincidences increases, and you begin to remember.

Japanese poet and philosopher, Masahisa Goi (1916-1980) writes about the Cho-Ku-Rei in his work, "The Future of Mankind." Goi Sensei explains the Cho-Ku-Rei as such: "In the beginning, Great God took His Body, His Light, and divided it into various rays of Light. He then functioned 7 Rays of Light to operate as the power source of human beings. These 7 rays of origin, which I call Cho-Ku-Rei (direct spirits from God), are the image of God working in this world of mankind. (from p.17 of Reiki Masters Handbook by Dr. Robert E. Zee and T. Ramacus)

Layers Upon Layers

The Living Symbol of the Logos of the Circle Seven has many layers of meaning. As we study it more of the Divine Knowledge about ourselves and Our One Creator are revealed.

Full Size Cho-Ku-Rei

This illustration shows the "Full Size" "Cho-Ku-Rei" and gives a general, not exact, idea of how the full size Cho-Ku-Rei fits on the body.

Note: The spiral to the center ends at the Heart Chakra of OM where it enters the Heart within the Heart, The Sacred Heart. The Creation Begins in OM and ends in Heart of OM.

Symbolism in the Skeletal System

The Logos OM creates the individual being (The Head).
The individual being enters the Seven Energies of The Elohim (7 Cervicals) that uphold the universe.
The Individual being incarnates through the 12 constellations of the Zodiac (12 Thoracic).
The Individual Being through the 5 Senses (5 Lumbar) experiences the world.

The Individual being from the hips down walks on their path on earth.
From the Hips Down:
(5 Sacrum)
S1- Higher Self
S2-Will
S3- Spirit
S4- Soul
S5- Mind

(4 Coccyx)
Co1- Atmic Body (OM)- Divine Self- Divine Conscious/Divine Unscious
Co2- Feeling Body (Causal Body) Cosmic Conscious/Cosmic Unconscious
Co3- Thinking Body (Subtle Body)- Collective Conscious/Collective Unscious
Co4- Acting Body (Gross Body)- Conscious/Unconscious

Note:

In the full size Cho-Ku-Rei illustration we notice that the spiral of the Cho-Ku-Rei ends at the 4th Chakra at the Heart of OM.

The spiral of the Cho-Ku-Rei in the neck ends at the Cervical #4. C4 is just behind the Larynx (Voice Box). What an appropriate place for the Living Word of the Logos to be.

These two clues tell us we should speak from the heart, the Heart that is Unconditional Love.

The Logos

This illustration Shows that from OM, the Logos, all beings and all things are Created.  The Logos powers the Circle of the Seven Primordial Energies that sustain the Universe and everything in it.  The Seven Spiritual Energies are called the Elohim, Seven Spirits of God, or The Seven Sages. Their pattern is reflected in the Seven Heavens, Seven Virtues, Seven Parts of our Subtle Anatomy, Seven Endocrine Glands, The Seven Bodily Systems, The Seven Colors of the Rainbow, The Seven Chakras etc.

The Black and White numbers represent the yin/yang energies of the Seven Parts of  the Subtle Anatomy of each individual which are:

The Divine Blueprint

The Atmic Self is beyond duality but carries within it the pattern of The Transcendental Nature of Our One Creator.

The OM transforms itself as it flows on the path through the chakra bodies of the personalities of the Godhead. When it reaches the Red Root of Miriam and Yeshua the Atmic Being becomes two, the individual Woman (black) and Man (white) of the inward spiral that spirals them through the world until they reach the heart of hearts and meet again and become One in the Heart of OM, the Heart of Home.

This is what is called the Twinship of Woman and Man. That each woman and each man are but half of the same Atmic Being. The Atmic being is patterned after the Atmic Being of the personalities of the Godhead. Each woman and each man has only One True Love who is their Twin. They both come from the same egg, the same Logos, the same seed of the Divine.

Sacred Heart

OM, The Logos is the Heart of Home, the Heart of Love. "OM" is the Healing Word of Power given by the Great Masters throughout the ages.

In the Beginning was The "Word", The "Logos".
The "Word" was with God and the "Word” was God.
The "Word" was made flesh and dwells within us.

The "Royal Command" is that we Love Our One Creator with all our:

Body, Mind, Soul, Spirit, Will, Higher Self and Sacred Heart
Love our Neighbor

Love Our Twin Self and individual self

Love all Creatures Great and Small

The "Royal Command" is To Love, as We are Loved by Our Creator. This is the Golden Rule.

The Logos of the Circle Seven opens the East Gate of our Heavenly Home. The Logos of the Circle Seven connects us with the Reiki Angels of the East, Sophie and Uriel. Sophie and Uriel are The Archangels of Miriam and Yeshua and our Guardian Angels.

Hon-Sha-Ze-Sho-Nen

I. Form

The form of the Hon-Sha-Ze-Sho-Nen consists of the OM and the Five Syllables. Om and the five syllables overlap each other and merge into one another becoming One in the Sacred Heart.

“Blessed are the Pure in Heart. For they shall see God.” (Matthew 5:8)
